Baseball Recap: Vanoss Takes a Loss

Vanoss extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 6-12. They fell 5-1 to the Weleetka Outlaws. The Wolves were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Outlaws apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2019.

Vanoss saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tagus Ledgerwood, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one double. That double marked the first that Ledgerwood has hit this season.

As for Weleetka, their victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-9. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games.

On Weleetka's side, Noah Hare spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up six Ks. Hare has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jonah Roberts was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Bryant Sites, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Looking ahead, Vanoss will square off against Healdton at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.38 runs per game on average), something the Wolves will no doubt try to take advantage of. Weleetka does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
