Basketball Recap: Raider Finau's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Bothell over Arlington

Bothell was the 81-72 winner over Arlington when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Bothell Cougars came up short against the Arlington Eagles on Saturday, falling 71-51. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 150th in Washington, while the Eagles are ranked 33rd in Washington).

Bothell's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Raider Finau, who went 7-for-17 en route to 13 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Jaylen McLaughlin, who posted 19 points.

Leyton Martin was his usual excellent self, dropping a triple-double with 29 points, 15 rebounds, and ten assists for Arlington. The match was Martin's third in a row with at least 22 points. Billy Kooy was another key player, going 8-for-14 on his way to 16 points and seven boards.

Bothell's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-14. As for Arlington, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-5.

Bothell does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Arlington, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 55-51 win against Redmond on the 18th.
