Baseball Recap: Somers Extends Winning Streak to Four

Somers came tearing into Thursday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Coventry Patriots by a score of 4-1. For the Spartans, this counts as revenge for the 4-0 victory the Patriots walked away with the last time they faced one another back in June of 2024.

Brandon Damboragian spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Andrew Czerwinski, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Josh Giupponi also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Somers pushed their record up to 4-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Coventry, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-4.
