Basketball Recap: Orono Comes Up Short

Orono was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 54-47 to the Houlton Shiretowners, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Riots were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Shiretowners apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Orono's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Houlton, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-3.

Orono will take on Mount Desert Island at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Mount Desert Island knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matches -- so hopefully Orono likes a good challenge. As for Houlton, they will venture away from home to square off against Old Town at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
