Basketball Recap: Iola Comes Up Short

Iola was the 40-19 winner over Anderson County when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Iola Mustangs were just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 36-35 to the Anderson County Bulldogs. That's two games in a row now that the Mustangs have lost by just one point.

Iola's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Anderson County, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-12.

Looking ahead, Iola will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Osawatomie. The timing is sure in Iola's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while Osawatomie has been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road. As for Anderson County, they will face off against Wellsville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wellsville will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Anderson County surely won't give up without a fight.
