Basketball Recap: Herscher Takes a Loss

Herscher lost against Manteno back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Herscher Tigers took a 41-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Manteno Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 443rd, while the Panthers are ranked 194th).

Manteno's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Emily Horath led the charge by dropping a double-double with 13 points and ten rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, Horath now owns an excellent 45.3% field goal percentage. The team also got some help courtesy of Lila Prindeville, who posted 11 points and six steals.

Herscher has traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 12 matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 12-13 record this season. As for Manteno, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-4.

Herscher didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 36-23 win against Peotone on the 10th. As for Manteno, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 53-40 victory against Coal City on the 10th.
