Recap: Knoxville Central Bobcats vs. Sevier County Smoky Bears
The Knoxville Central Bobcats and the Sevier County Smoky Bears squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Knoxville Central Bobcats had to settle for second. Knoxville Central had to suffer through a rough 51-20 loss at the hands of Sevier County. While losing is never fun, Knoxville Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 114th, while Sevier County is ranked 35th).
Knoxville Central's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Daniel Sackie, who picked up 85 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Sevier County was led to victory by Mason Ellis and Malachi Pate. Ellis gained 132 total yards and a touchdown, while Pate rushed for 139 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.7 yards per carry.
Knoxville Central now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Sevier County, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-1.
Knoxville Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Sevier County will be playing in front of their home fans against Powell at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Powell is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
