Basketball Recap: Scott's Branch Skates Past Charleston Math & Science with Ease

Scott's Branch entered their tilt with Charleston Math & Science on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Charleston Math & Science Riptide, posting a 42-11 win. The Eagles have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Riptide, too.

Scott's Branch's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Siara Lundy, who posted six points along with nine boards and five assists. Lundy has been hot recently, having also posted three or more steals the last four times she's played. Trayiona Maxfield was another key player, putting up 12 points and three steals.

Scott's Branch smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 16 offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Despite the loss, Charleston Math & Science still got an impressive performance from Cynay Taylor, who had six points and three steals.

Scott's Branch is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.5 points per game. As for Charleston Math & Science, their loss was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-8.

Scott's Branch has already played their next game (against Palmetto Scholars Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Charleston Math & Science will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Cross at 6:30 p.m. on January 31st. Charleston Math & Science is facing Cross at the right time seeing as Cross is stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
