Neuse Charter came into Friday's contest looking for another win against NCSSM: Durham, but Alex Caza wouldn't allow it. The Unicorns enjoyed a cozy 78-64 victory over the Cougars on Friday thanks in part to Caza, who dropped a double-double with 21 points and 11 boards. He has also also been stellar as far as field goal percentage is concerned: he's posted one of at least 45% every time he's hit the court this season.

Neuse Charter lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Klayton Tew, who posted 18 points. Another player making a difference was Donolyon Tyrell, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds.

The win made it two in a row for NCSSM: Durham and bumps their season record up to 9-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.5 points over those games. As for Neuse Charter, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-4.

NCSSM: Durham will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Franklin Academy at 7:30 p.m. on January 8, 2026. As for Neuse Charter, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 71-53 victory against Raleigh Charter on the 11th.
