Basketball Recap: Sunnyslope Finds Home Court Redemption Against Millennium

There's no place like home for Sunnyslope, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Millennium Tigers 52-49. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Vikings have posted since February 13, 2024.

Kylie Rarrick had an outrageously good game as she went 7 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 26 points. Those 26 points gave her a new career-high. Maggie Luba was another key player, going 5 of 10 on her way to 10 points.

Sunnyslope was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive contests.

Despite the loss, Millennium still got an impressive performance from Destiny Lunan, who went 9 for 21 en route to 25 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. Lunan is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Dashia Richardson, who posted nine points and five boards.

Sunnyslope's record is now 13-7. As for Millennium, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 13-6.

Sunnyslope will take on Desert Vista at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Desert Vista is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.6 points per game this season. Millennium has already played their next game, a 66-50 win against Valley Vista on the 24th.
