Softball Recap: Shadow Ridge's Run of Five Straight Victories Now Over

Shadow Ridge dropped their record down to 17-10-1 on Saturday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They lost 8-1 to the Hamilton Huskies. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Stallions of the 4-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Shadow Ridge saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madilyn Gentner, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base.

As for Hamilton, their victory was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-8-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games.

On Hamilton's side, they got a great performance from Liliana Russo as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over six innings pitched. Russo has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Amanda Benites, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Megan VanDenburgh was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Looking ahead, Shadow Ridge will head out to challenge Highland at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Stallions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hawks have averaged an impressive 8.7 runs per game this season. As for Hamilton, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Pinnacle at 4:00 p.m. The Pioneers will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something the Huskies surely won't give up without a fight.
