Basketball Recap: El Dorado Falls Despite Big Games from Jayden Ramirez and Hannah Hicks

El Dorado lost against Bel Air back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The El Dorado Aztecs fell 53-41 to the Bel Air Highlanders. The Aztecs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Hannah Hicks and Jayden Ramirez certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Hicks dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds, while Ramirez went 5 of 6 en route to 10 points. Hicks is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down 12 or more in the last three games she's played.

Even though they lost, El Dorado smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive matches.

Bel Air's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jayde Martinez led the charge by going 6 for 11 on her way to 16 points. Martinez also posted a block, marking her first of the season. Adalyn Palomo was another key player, going 7 of 12 en route to 15 points and four steals.

El Dorado's loss dropped their record down to 11-14. As for Bel Air, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season.

El Dorado has already played their next game, a 50-24 victory against Horizon on the 24th. As for Bel Air, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 48-40 defeat against Americas on the 24th.
