Soccer Game Preview: Ponaganset vs. North Providence + How To Watch

The Ponaganset Chieftains will take on the North Providence Cougars at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Ponaganset has given up an average of 2.8 goals per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Ponaganset is headed into Thursday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight matches on Wednesday. They lost 6-2 to Toll Gate. Things were pretty much settled by the half as Ponaganset were already down 4-1.

Ponaganset's lineup was just a bit different on Wednesday as Maci Lafontaine got a bit more time on the pitch (80 vs. her season average of 56.8). Lafontaine made the most of the opportunity, scoring two goals A few more games like that and she might be seeing even more time going forward.

Meanwhile, North Providence faced Middletown in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Cougars' defense stepped up to hand the Islanders a 2-0 shutout.

North Providence has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 26 goals over those five contests. As for Ponaganset, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8-1.
