Basketball Game Preview: Laconia Spartans vs. Winnebago Lutheran Academy Vikings

Laconia and Winnebago Lutheran Academy are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2020, but not for long. The Laconia Spartans will head out on the road to square off against the Winnebago Lutheran Academy Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Laconia knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight games -- so hopefully Winnebago Lutheran Academy likes a good challenge.

Laconia is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Mayville just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 66-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cardinals. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Spartans came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while the Cardinals are ranked 317th).

Meanwhile, Winnebago Lutheran Academy entered their tilt with North Fond du Lac on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They strolled past the Orioles with points to spare, taking the game 55-39.

Laconia's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-3. As for Winnebago Lutheran Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.

Laconia came up short against Winnebago Lutheran Academy in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 66-62. Can Laconia avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
