Softball Recap: Kennett Comes Up Short

Kennett extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to seven on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-4. They lost 16-1 to the Bayard Rustin Golden Knights. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Blue Demons of the 14-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

As for Bayard Rustin, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2. The result was nothing new for the Golden Knights, who have now won four matchups by nine runs or more so far this season.

For Bayard Rustin's part, Ashley Falcone made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Falcone was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Jess Kelley was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Jenna Kraft, who got on base in two of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Coming up, Kennett will challenge Downingtown West at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Whippets will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Blue Demons surely won't give up without a fight. As for Bayard Rustin, they will face off against Avon Grove at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
