Volleyball Recap: Garces Memorial Takes a Loss

Garces Memorial was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They fell 3-1 to the Frontier Titans. The Rams were not able to make up for their defeat to the Titans from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

Garces Memorial started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-22, 29-27, 25-20.

When it comes to explaining why Garces Memorial lost, don't look at Abigail Menta. Despite the final result, she had eight digs.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Frontier to victory, but perhaps none more so than Maycie East, who had 13 digs. Those 13 digs gave East a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Laykinn Cash, who had 12 digs.

Garces Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 16-8. As for Frontier, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-12 record this season.

Garces Memorial and Frontier could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Rams (ranked 292nd) will meet Liberty (ranked 79th) at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Frontier will face off against Centennial at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (135 vs. 37).
