Football Game Preview: Lake Region Lakers vs. Old Orchard Beach Seagulls

The Lake Region Lakers will venture away from home to take on the Old Orchard Beach Seagulls at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Lake Region has given up an average of 29.6 points per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Lake Region is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Maine's top teams: Mt. Ararat, who was ranked second at the time (Lake Region was ranked seventh). The Lakers were beaten by the Eagles 58-22 on Friday. The Lakers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Old Orchard Beach). They blew past Sacopee Valley 64-14 on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Seagulls in their matchups with the Hawks: they've now won seven in a row.

Old Orchard Beach's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Lake Region, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Lake Region came up short against Old Orchard Beach when the teams last played back in September of 2021, falling 34-30. Can the Lakers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
