Basketball Recap: Colonial Heights Comes Up Short

Colonial Heights lost against Hopewell back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Colonial Heights Colonials were beaten by the Hopewell Blue Devils 75-38. While losing is never fun, the Colonials can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 320th, while the Blue Devils are ranked 93rd).

Erin Edmonds HV17 continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Hopewell, shooting 7-for-12 from long range and almost dropping a triple-double on 33 points, nine boards, and ten steals. Edmonds HV17's evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. April Winfield was another key player, putting up nine points.

Colonial Heights dropped their record down to 4-11 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Hopewell, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-4.

Colonial Heights didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 66-19 victory against Southampton on the 3rd. As for Hopewell, they will be playing at home against Meadowbrook at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
