Recap: Roosevelt Roughriders vs. West Seattle
There's no place like home for the Roosevelt Roughriders, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against West Seattle on Friday and snuck past 49-46. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Roosevelt has posted since December 13, 2023.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Roosevelt to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jasmine Hall, who scored 14 points along with two blocks. Hall is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Curtis, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Several West Seattle players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alyssa Neumann, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Neumann hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for 22 straight games. Carmen Cruz was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Even though they lost, West Seattle smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Roosevelt only pulled down six offensive rebounds.
Roosevelt's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-13. As for West Seattle, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-13.
Roosevelt and Seattle Prep will face off at 4:45 p.m. on February 17th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Roosevelt has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. West Seattle does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
