Baseball Game Preview: Maple Grove Crimson vs. Edina Hornets

The Maple Grove Crimson will venture away from home to face off against the Edina Hornets at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Maple Grove will be strutting in after a win while Edina will be coming in after a loss.

On Wednesday, Maple Grove was able to grind out a solid victory over St. Michael-Albertville, taking the game 5-2. The Crimson haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Edina unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Wednesday. They lost 13-1 to Wayzata.

Edina saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jackson McGrath, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Maple Grove's victory bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Edina, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7-1.

Maple Grove came out on top in a nail-biter against Edina when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 10-9. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Crimson since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
