University is 1-9 against Academy of Science and Innovation since September of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. It'll be Battle of the Birds when Hawks dukes it out withthe Academy of Science and Innovation Ravens at 4:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On October 4th, University came up short against Hartford Public and fell 3-1.

Meanwhile, Academy of Science and Innovation unfortunately witnessed the end of their 14-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of St. Paul Catholic by a score of 3-2. The Ravens have struggled against the Falcons recently, as their game on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Academy of Science and Innovation took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 24-26, 20-25, 25-19, 15-9.

Despite the loss, Academy of Science and Innovation had strong showings from Patrina McHugh, who had eight digs, four kills, and two aces, and Nehae'Vah Armstrong, who had ten digs, five aces, and a kill. That's the most aces Armstrong has posted in her last seven games. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Ramos, who had 11 digs.

Even though they lost, Academy of Science and Innovation was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 16 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 44 consecutive contests dating back to last season.
