Basketball Game Preview: Rossville Hornets vs. Tri-Central Trojans

The Rossville Hornets will venture away from home to face off against the Tri-Central Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Tri-Central took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Rossville, who comes in off a win.

Rossville is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed by Frankfort to the tune of 59-17 on Tuesday. Given the Hornets' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 162nd, while the Hot Dogs are ranked 387th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rossville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ava Burkle, who posted eight points in addition to eight rebounds and six steals. Another player making a difference was Victoria Vanderwall, who put up 12 points and four steals.

Meanwhile, Tri-Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were dealt a 63-33 loss at the hands of Sheridan.

Rossville is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.2 points per game. As for Tri-Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-11.

Rossville was able to grind out a solid win over Tri-Central in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, winning 46-33. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rossville since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
