St. Ignatius College Preparatory had won three straight at home, but on Tuesday they bumped their record up to 13-7-2 to make it four. They had just enough and edged out the Bellarmine College Prep Bells 3-2. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

St. Ignatius College Preparatory got a great performance from Chase Gordon as he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. Gordon has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ryan Rosenthal was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one home run and one double. Steele Labagh also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

As for Bellarmine College Prep, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-11 record this season. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 1.25 runs.

On Bellarmine College Prep's side, Apolo Lapiz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits.

At the plate, Bellarmine College Prep saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evan Tavarez, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. St. Ignatius College Preparatory is set to challenge their familiar foe Valley Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wildcats 2.3, the Warriors 1.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Bellarmine College Prep will take on rival Archbishop Riordan at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
