Basketball Game Preview: Central Cass Squirrels vs. Thompson Tommies

Central Cass hasn't had much luck against Thompson recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Central Cass Squirrels will head out on the road to face off against the Thompson Tommies at 7:15 p.m. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Central Cass is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of North Dakota's top teams: Valley City, who was ranked 22nd at the time (Central Cass was ranked 21st). The match between Central Cass and Valley City didn't end well, with Central Cass falling 61-46. The Squirrels have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Thompson unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Monday. They fell 56-47 to Devils Lake.

Thompson's defeat dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Central Cass, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 12-2.

Central Cass was dealt a bruising 75-35 defeat at the hands of Thompson in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Central Cass avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
