Basketball Recap: Spring Creek Spartans vs. McQueen Lancers
The Spring Creek Spartans had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They secured a 65-61 W over McQueen. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Darren Bylund continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 25 points. He hasn't dropped below 19 points for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Jaron Johnson, who scored 11 points along with three blocks.
McQueen's loss came despite strong showings from Kade Snyder and Kanigh Snyder. Snyder scored 35 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks, while Snyder dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Snyder has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Talan Backlund, who scored six points along with two steals.
Spring Creek's victory bumped their record up to 16-5. As for McQueen, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season.
Spring Creek will be playing in front of their home fans against the Dust Devils at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for McQueen, they will head out on the road to face off against the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Damonte Ranch will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive.
