Basketball Game Preview: Oregon City Pioneers vs. West Salem Titans

The Oregon City Pioneers will square off against the West Salem Titans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Oregon City knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight matchups -- so hopefully West Salem likes a good challenge.

Oregon City took a loss when they played away from home last Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Roseburg 81-33. The Pioneers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 69-41, which was the final score in West Salem's tilt against Thurston on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked 68th, while the Colts are ranked ninth).

West Salem has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.8 points per game. As for Oregon City, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2.
