Freelance recap October 22, 2013
De La Salle extended the longest winning streak in Freelance this week by beating Logan, 49-7. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.
Livermore Valley Prep fell to Mountain View Christian 66-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Miguel Echeverria was a bright spot for Livermore Valley Prep, as he ran for 81 yards and caught 1 pass for 51 yards in the loss.
Fred Biletnikoff Jr.'s team's dynamic duo of Alex Schick and Echeverria proved to be unstoppable against the Saints, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Schick threw for 78 yards and Echeverria had 51 yards receiving. Havishesh Machani helped Livermore Valley Prep's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 23 yards.
Chris Williams provided a threat through the air and on the ground as De La Salle defeated the Colts. He completed 4 passes for 38 yards and also ran for 57 yards.
De La Salle's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Spartans feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Williams has thrown for 619 yards and 3 touchdowns this season, while Marquis Morris has 8 catches for 196 yards.
John Velasco of the Justin Alumbaugh's team is only 53 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Velasco has rushed for 947 yards on 110 carries so far this year.
The Spartans led the league in scoring this week after putting up 49 points on Logan. Andrew Hernandez ran for 93 yards during the win.
