Basketball Game Preview: Gordonsville Tigers vs. Whitwell Tigers

The Gordonsville Tigers are taking a road trip to square off against the Whitwell Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Gordonsville is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.

It was a proper cat-fight when Gordonsville faced off against Pickett County on Tuesday. Gordonsville came up short against Pickett County, falling 78-53. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 230th, while the Bobcats are ranked 38th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Whitwell). They blew past St. Andrews-Sewanee 58-37 on Tuesday.

Whitwell found their leader in sophomore Callie Brock, who went 7 of 8 on her way to 18 points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Stephanie Miller, who posted 13 points.

Gordonsville's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Whitwell, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Gordonsville against Whitwell when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as the team secured a 62-25 win. Will Gordonsville repeat their success, or does Whitwell have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
