Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Valentine). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Gordon-Rushville Mustangs 44-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Valentine has posted against Gordon-Rushville since October 4, 2019.

Valentine didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Jekhi Williams, Brayden Stec, and Prent Parker picked up one apiece. Williams got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

When it comes to explaining why Gordon-Rushville lost, don't look at Daniel Martins. Despite the final result, he picked up 201 receiving yards and one touchdown. Martins showed off some serious burst, cutting upfield on a catch for 68 yards.

The victory (which was Valentine's third in a row) raised their record to 4-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 34.0 points over those games. As for Gordon-Rushville, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 0-8.

Coming up, Valentine will face off against Kearney Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Stars' defense has only allowed 13.5 points per game this season, so Valentine's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Gordon-Rushville, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Amherst at 6:00 p.m.
