Helix is 8-2 against Mount Miguel since January of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Helix Highlanders will square off against the Mount Miguel Matadors at 6:30 p.m.

Last Friday, Helix was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 58-54 to Steele Canyon. The Highlanders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Mount Miguel had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.7 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They walked away with a 65-54 victory over the Vaqueros.

Helix better focus on containing Jamell Willey and Hamad Elhamad as the pair were huge in Mount Miguel's win. Willey dropped a double-double on 26 points and 11 rebounds, while Elhamad dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 boards. Mount Miguel is 4-2 when Willey posts eight or more rebounds, but 6-7 otherwise. Braylon Cardwell was another key player, putting up six points.

Helix's defeat dropped their record down to 6-16. As for Mount Miguel, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

Everything came up roses for Helix against Mount Miguel in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, as the team secured a 75-23 win. Does Helix have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mount Miguel turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
