Basketball Game Preview: Great Bridge Wildcats vs. First Colonial Patriots

Great Bridge and First Colonial are an even 3-3 against one another since January of 2016, but not for long. After both having extra time off, both will shake off the cobwebs and square off against one another at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Great Bridge and four for First Colonial.

Great Bridge is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 55 points two weeks ago, they were much more limited against Oscar Smith last Friday. They had to suffer through a 111-29 loss at the hands of the Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 325th, while the Tigers are ranked 11th).

Meanwhile, First Colonial was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap last Friday as they fell 83-79 to Princess Anne. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game two weeks ago (66), the Patriots still had to take the loss.

Great Bridge's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for First Colonial, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

Great Bridge came up short against First Colonial when the teams last played back in January, falling 54-46. Can Great Bridge avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
