Basketball Recap: Grace Christian Comes Up Short

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Grace Christian couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They lost 80-58 to the Trinity Academy Tigers on Thursday. The Crusaders have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

When it comes to explaining why Grace Christian lost, don't look at Nate Jones. Despite the final result, he posted 18 points. Another player making a difference was Caleb Ellis, who put up eight points.

Even though they lost, Grace Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Grace Christian's loss dropped their record down to 19-8. As for Trinity Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season.

Grace Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Trinity Academy, they will challenge Greensboro Day School at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Greensboro Day School knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Trinity Academy likes a good challenge.
