Baseball Recap: Oxford Picks Up Third Straight Win on the Road

Oxford won the last time they faced Flinthills and things went their way on Thursday too. The Wildcats came out on top against the Mustangs by a score of 6-2.

Connor Commerford was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over 6.1 innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one hit in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.

Commerford wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Pearson Rush, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Oxford's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-2. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Flinthills, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-9.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Mustangs beat Oxford by a score of 12-11 later that day.
