Basketball Recap: Waltrip Takes a Loss

Waltrip was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They took a blow against the Galena Park Yellowjackets, falling 48-17. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rams this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 53-14 back in November of 2024.

Galena Park's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Julissa Montano, who posted 12 points along with six rebounds and four steals. The dominant performance also gave Montano a new career-high in blocks (three). Another player making a difference was Savannah Roberts, who had ten points in addition to six steals and five boards.

Waltrip's defeat dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Galena Park, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-11.

Waltrip wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 34-31 win against Madison on the 1st. Galena Park has also already played their next game, a 45-9 victory against Westbury on the 1st.
