Softball Game Preview: San Antonio Memorial Minutemen vs. Lanier Voks

The San Antonio Memorial Minutemen will be taking part in a tournament against the Lanier Voks at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

San Antonio Memorial is headed into Thursday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their tenth straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They fell 17-13 to Center Point.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lanier). They put the hurt on Knippa with a sharp 19-4 win on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Jesal Reyes was a standout: she went a perfect3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Another player making a difference was Isabella Lara, who scored three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Lanier always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .900. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

San Antonio Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Lanier, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-5.

San Antonio Memorial suffered a grim 13-2 defeat to Lanier in their previous matchup back in January. Can San Antonio Memorial avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
