Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Daniel Boone

Daniel Boone proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 18) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past the Oak Ridge Wildcats 4-3. The victory was familiar territory for the Trailblazers, who have now won three matches in a row.

Braden Gore spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Clay Rowland, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Jackson McCurry was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base.

Daniel Boone hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in five consecutive contests.

Daniel Boone's record is now 23-8-1. As for Oak Ridge, their defeat ended a 15-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 25-4.

Looking ahead, Daniel Boone will head out on the road to take on Powell at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Trailblazers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Oak Ridge, they will welcome Maryville at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Red Rebels have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.72 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of.
