Baseball Recap: New Summerfield Hornets vs. Mt. Enterprise Wildcats
New Summerfield extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 34 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-18 in the process. They lost 11-0 to the Mt. Enterprise Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, with their most recent defeat being a 21-1 loss on Tuesday.
As for Mt. Enterprise, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-5-2. Considering they have won seven matches by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
For Mt. Enterprise's part, Jase Webb made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Webb has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lucas Burkhardt, who went 1-for-2 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aiden Rogers, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple.
