Volleyball Recap: Mayville Cardinals vs. Dominican Knights
With a playoff game on the line, Mayville rose to the challenge on Thursday. They had just enough and edged the Dominican Knights out 3-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cardinals.
Mayville took Dominican into a fifth set where they got it done with a six-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-18, 23-25, 23-25, 15-9.
Mayville was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 14 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in four consecutive games.
Despite the defeat, Dominican saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Gabby Johnson had 29 digs and two aces. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in the last 12 games she's played.
