Soccer Game Preview: Nelson County vs. Chatham

The Nelson County Governors will face off against the Chatham Cavaliers at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Nelson County is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Nelson County had to skate by with only a one-goal margin when they last took the pitch, which might have inspired the five-goal drubbing they dealt Galileo on Friday. The Governors put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 7-2 win. Nelson County might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by three goals or more this season.

Their offense was hitting Galileo from everywhere, as six different players booted in a goal. Jairo Chavez led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by himself.

Meanwhile, Chatham unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Appomattox County.

Nelson County's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-0-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 26 goals over those five contests. As for Chatham, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6-1.

Everything went Nelson County's way against Chatham when the teams last played back in April, as Nelson County made off with an 8-0 victory. Will the Governors repeat their success, or do the Cavaliers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
