Basketball Recap: Cyprus Takes a Loss

Cyprus is still winless after their game against Layton on Tuesday, but the team can take solace in the fact it was the closest they've come to winning. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 46-43 heartbreaker at the hands of the Layton Lancers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Pirates of the 60-51 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.

Layton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kenley Bennie led the charge by going 5 for 12 on her way to 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaymbree Henry, who posted nine points.

Cyprus' loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Layton, with the win, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-7.

Cyprus will host Brighton at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Layton will take on West Jordan in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
