Baseball Recap: Matanzas Comes Up Short

Matanzas was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Palatka Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-0 back in February.

Dylan Vanderbur made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. Wiley Connor was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

Matanzas' loss dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Palatka, they pushed their record up to 7-7 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Matanzas has already played their next match, an 8-7 defeat against Vanguard on the 17th. As for Palatka, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-2 loss against Father Lopez on the 24th.
