Basketball Game Preview: Shelbyville Rams vs. Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg

The Shelbyville Rams will head out to take on Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Shelbyville played in conference for the first time on Thursday and they got just the result they we're looking for. They had just enough and edged Warrensburg-Latham out 58-56. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Rams have posted since November 18, 2024.

Kenzie Jones continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 34 points and ten rebounds. The contest was her seventh in a row with at least 15 points. Kylie Smith was another key player, putting up eight points.

Meanwhile, Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg entered their tilt with North Clay/Clay City on Thursday with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. They strolled past North Clay/Clay City with points to spare, taking the game 49-32. Given Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 229th, while North Clay/Clay City is ranked 494th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg pushed their record up to 20-6 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.1 points over those games. As for Shelbyville, their record is now 7-18.

Things could have been worse for Shelbyville, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 54-40 loss to Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. Can Shelbyville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
