Softball Game Preview: Kennedy Cougars vs. West Park Panthers

The Kennedy Cougars will challenge the West Park Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Kennedy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.

It was a proper cat-fight when Kennedy duked it out with McClatchy on Tuesday. The Cougars fell just short of the Lions by a score of 4-3. The loss continues a trend for the Cougars in their meetings with the Lions: they've now lost three in a row.

Kennedy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gerren Garnett, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Meanwhile, West Park entered their tilt with Antelope on Tuesday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They beat the Titans by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 4-2.

Emma Juarez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

West Park pushed their record up to 10-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Kennedy, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-11.
