Recap: Piedmont Classical Bobcats vs. College Prep & Leadership Academy Royals

Winning is just a little bit easier when you make six more threes than your opponent, a fact the Piedmont Classical Bobcats proved on Friday. They walked away with a 66-54 win over College Prep & Leadership Academy. The win made it back-to-back wins for Piedmont Classical.

Piedmont Classical found their leader in underclassman La'Trel Smith, who scored seven points along with five assists and five steals. Smith also posted two+ blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Ja'el Lawson, who scored nine points along with nine rebounds and four steals.

College Prep & Leadership Academy's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Robert Knotts, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds, and Tyrie Pressley who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds. Bryce Mckenzie was another key contributor, scoring nine points.

Piedmont Classical is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-8 record this season. As for College Prep & Leadership Academy, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Piedmont Classical will take on Bethany at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bethany is hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses. As for College Prep & Leadership Academy, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Triad Math and Science Academy at 8:00 p.m. on January 23rd.
