Basketball Game Preview: Turner Lions vs. Lone Star Rangers

Turner is 0-5 against Lone Star since January of 2023 but things could change on Tuesday. The Turner Lions will host the Lone Star Rangers at 7:15 p.m.

Turner is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game on Friday. They were dealt a 66-36 loss at the hands of Creekview.

Matthew Stone was Turner's leading scorer, having posted 11 points. Jordan Johnson held things down on the boards with four rebounds.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Lone Star's strategy against Reedy on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Lone Star blew Reedy out of the water with a 78-49 final score. Given the Rangers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 143rd, while the Lions are ranked 567th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lone Star has also been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.3 points per game. As for Turner, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-12.

Turner took a serious blow against Lone Star in their previous matchup on January 3rd, falling 89-41. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Turner was down 43-19.
