Basketball Recap: River Wins Going Away Against Caldwell

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Marietta, River was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Caldwell Redskins with a sharp 57-33 victory. The Pilots have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 24 points or more this season.

Despite the defeat, Caldwell saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Breighlee Moracco went 5 of 10 on her way to 13 points. That was a full 39.4% of Caldwell's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Laynie Sidwell, who had five points.

River moved to 5-6 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Caldwell, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. River will head out to face off against Shadyside at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Caldwell, they will face off against Frontier at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
