Basketball Recap: South Gate Takes a Loss

South Gate was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They received a blow as they fell 63-45 to the Artesia Pioneers. The Rams lost against the Pioneers in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 81-40 score last time.

Artesia had a senior duo take command as Cayden Del Rosario went 7 of 15 on his way to 16 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals and Christopher Vargas went 5 for 8 on his way to 12 points and six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Del Rosario has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kobe Young, who posted nine points.

South Gate's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Artesia, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-2.

South Gate will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Citrus Valley at 3:30 p.m. on December 26th. As for Artesia, they will head out to take on North Valley Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on December 19th.
