Football Recap: Georgetown Comes Up Short + How To Watch

After flying high against Victoria East last Friday, Georgetown came back down to earth. The Eagles took a 34-26 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Belton Tigers on Friday. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Will Shepard had a dynamite game For Belton., throwing for 245 yards and three TDs while completing 94.4% of his passes, and also rushing for 53 yards and one score. Those three passing touchdowns gave Shepard a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cason Morton, who gained 97 total yards and a touchdown.

Georgetown's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Belton, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Georgetown didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 35-32 win against Copperas Cove on the 12th. As for Belton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 24-10 defeat against East View on the 12th.
