Baseball Game Preview: United Golden Eagles vs. Southern Indians

For the second straight game, United will face off against Southern. The Golden Eagles will be playing at home against the Indians at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in United's favor as the team sits on nine straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Southern has been banged up by nine consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.

United is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Southern get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory on Monday. The Golden Eagles haven't had any issues with the Indians recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Kadin Schonauer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, United got a massive performance out of Cavan Jackson, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave Jackson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Quentin Taylor, who went 3-for-4 with five stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

United kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southern only managed one hit.

Southern's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for United, their victory bumped their record up to 15-5.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. United has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Southern struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
