Softball Recap: Lee Academy Pandas vs. Woodland Dragons

Lee Academy couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost 17-3 to the Woodland Dragons on Wednesday. The loss leaves Lee Academy without a win on the season.

For Woodland's part, Brooke Smith was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Smith has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts every time she's pitched this season. Smith was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing five bases while going 4-for-4.

In other batting news, Woodland got a massive performance out of Audrina Moore, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Carlie Leighton, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

The win was the fourth in a row for Woodland, bringing their record for this year to 4-2.

Lee Academy will head out on the road to square off against Greenville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Woodland, they will take on Bangor Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Bangor Christian will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
